PinkDetect is an award-winning social enterprise advancing early breast cancer detection and awareness through accessible, data-driven solutions. We focus on identifying breast cancer risk at earlier stages and empowering women and communities to take informed, proactive control of their breast health.
Our omni-channel model integrates proprietary technology to support breast health monitoring and actionable insights with large-scale grassroots programs, including year-round screening camps, capacity-building programs for frontline health workers, and community workshops that translate early detection into measurable health outcomes at scale.
PinkDetect began in a university dorm room in Canada, where founder Suha Lalani was studying Biomedical Sciences and researching cancer biology. As she examined the scale of late stage breast cancer detection across developing countries like Pakistan, the statistics became deeply personal when she lost someone close to the disease. She knew she had to act.
Alongside her classmate, Suha created a breast self examination simulation to educate Pakistani women during Pinktober 2023. What began as a small awareness initiative quickly gained widespread traction.
The campaign reached women across Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and parts of East Africa, revealing a clear gap. Women were seeking practical, culturally relevant tools to actively manage their breast health. This realization became the foundation of PinkDetect and its mission to make early breast cancer detection accessible, scalable, and sustainable.
The PinkDetect Journey reflects how our simple idea grew into a nationwide effort to advance early detection. Each milestone marks a step forward toward greater awareness, stronger partnerships, and meaningful impact for women and communities.
Launched our first animated self examination campaign to educate women on early signs of breast cancer, laying the foundation for accessible, culturally relevant awareness.
Launched the PinkDetect app, Pakistan's first breast health management platform providing structured education, screening support, and referral guidance.
Expanded on ground operations by launching free screening camps and educational workshops, reaching over 100,000 women annually through community based engagement.
Developed a standardized breast health curriculum and translated into three local languages for consistent education and training across diverse communities and frontline health workers.
An independent study conducted by the Pakistan Journal of Health demonstrated marked improvements in early breast cancer detection linked to PinkDetect's interventions.
